Camping at (well close to) Mount Rainier July 2010

Ryan and I have been itching to do some camping, but for whatever reason (maybe Ryan working nights) it's been almost a year since we've made it out. The weather has been so nice that the wilderness has been calling us, so a camping trip ensued. Work has been pretty hectic for me recently, so taking time off work wasn't really an option, so we decided we would just do some car camping. We'd planned to stay at Ohanapecosh on the SE side of Rainier, but it was full when we got there. They suggested that we check out La wis wis (yes, that's really the name), but they were full too. So, we looked at the map and found a campsite (Walupt Lake) that was 20 miles up a gravel road to the south of Rainer and decided that it was probably far enough off the beaten path that it wouldn't be full. WRONG, full again--however the ranger said we could stay at the horse camp 1/4 mile down the road. We were the only ones there and while it smelled a little...horsey, it was worth not having neighbors. We had a blast!

Yes this is how we got our water. :D
